High on Life - Book review
High on life written by Vishal Gupta is a very simple and easy to read book. It gives you a very basic idea about life and how one can deal with issues that can be thrown at us by life everyday. It tells us about how the simple things around us and the regular activities we often underestimate that can be the solutions to a lot of our complex problems. This book deals with "depression" starting from what exactly it is to stating 20 ways through which depression can be eliminated and defeated by us. It also gives us an idea about why we get depressed and what makes us go deeper into depression. "High on life" just like its name , tells you how simple activities like going on a walk, or interacting with a friend can give you that dopamine hit which you seek through using mobile phones or unhealthy eating habits, etc and do wonders to your mental health as well as emotional well being. The best part about this book is that it's written in a layman language and has no complex or difficult words that would be a barrier for a reader to read and comprehend. The book has a wonderful quote which says "live as if you were to die tomorrow. Learn as if you were to live forever." The book also throws light on how meditation can be a miraculous healing process for a lot of depressed souls and how "the goal of meditation isn't to control your thoughts, but to stop letting them control you".
